The La Sal Mountains from Arches National Park

ISO 100      1/250     f 11     101mm

Arches National Park is one of the most crowded of our national Parks so it can be a challenge to get an image without the distracting elements of crowds of people and lots of autos on the road.  On this day, I got lucky – the crowds were small, perhaps because it was a chilly day.

I captured this image in the afternoon, looking east to the La Sal Mountains.  It was the dramatic separation of the foreground, mid-ground, and distance that caught my attention.  The layers were quite distinct and it produced such an effect that they looked like separate worlds brought together into one vista by some visual magic.
