Looking North From Cape Disappointment

Captain John Meares named this cape in 1788 when he was unable to cross the sandbars fronting the bay and find the entrance to the Columbia River. It was here that Lewis and Clark finally reached the Pacific Ocean after their epic journey across the continent.
I took this shot from North Head which is the windiest point on the Pacific coast. Winds of 120 miles per hour have been recorded at this place. Indeed, on the day that I captured this image the wind was quite strong. I think that maybe the air here is never still.
