Bleached Wood #2

ISO 100      1/250     f 11     24mm

I came across this dead tree trunk by the side of a pathway in Arches National Park.  It was if it was posing for a portrait, asking ‘Please take my picture.’  I could see that there was a good image there so I obliged.  No doubt the Park Rangers who built the pathway were aware of the photogenic nature of this weathered wood and they routed the pathway for all future generations to pass by and admire the scene.  I am always grateful to the National Park Service for the outstanding work they have done across the decades to make the wonders of nature available to all.

I chose to render this image in monochrome as an homage to Ansel Adams who pioneered dramatic images of nature so many decades ago.  He was the first photographer whose name I knew and his work serves as a great inspiration to me to this day.
